You Don't Love Me

This is a poem about unrequited love. This is for everyone who has ever felt this way. This is for you.

You don't love me
You just want to hear my voice
Those words that comfort you
But actually, you had no other choice

You don't love me
You just like my jokes, my antics
You utter my name rarely
Those times when you're sick

You don't love me
I'm just your secret-keeper
Your most trusted confidante
Your avid supporter

You don't love me
You just need my suggestions
When you're in doubt
That's when you value my opinion

You don't love me
You're just single and alone
I'm the only one responding
When you dial the phone

You don't love me
I have thought of this all day
Because if you really do
You should've chosen to stay

You don't love me
You just enjoy my company
I'm really, really tired
So I'm setting you free

You don't love me
As much as I really do
I tell myself to believe
But maybe I'm not for you

You don't love me anymore
Because I know at some point you did
Or maybe I was just hoping
Why am I so stupid?

You'd forget me someday
This you will see
But let me tell you one last time
That you never loved me
